CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM
C.L.O.S.E.D. = CLOSED LOOP OIL (TO) STEAM ENERGY DESIGN

Close the book on used oil filter and used oil environmental liability with United Recyclers CLOSED LOOP System. Just about as close to a perpetual motion system as anyone has come. The waste-to-energy process rose to a new and innovative level.

Imagine if you will, a system that processes your used filters and produces steel, used oil, and an alternative fuel that is used to produce steam that cleans the steel, cleans the used oil filter barrels, and heats the used oil in order to eliminate water from the used oil, and the water is then used to create steam, and the process begins again.

Unlike the false and misleading claims of other filter recyclers, United Recyclers completely recycles used filters 100% with no land filling!

How it works

United Recyclers (URI) employs a patented process to recycle used oil filters. The process ultimately separates the used filter into three components - used oil, filter media, and steel.

The process takes the used filter through several stages of mechanical separation:

  1. The filter is fed into a low speed, high torque shredder that begins the separation process. Most residual oil is removed at this point.

  2. The shredded filter is carried by conveyor to a high speed hammer mill where the steel and filter media is further separated through violent pounding, and at the same time any remaining oil, not contained in the filter media, is removed.

  3. The steel is separated and moved by a series of magnetic conveyors to a trammel washer, where it is washed with pressurized steam, thereby removing the residual oil. The steel is conveyed into a roll off and is transported to a Steel Mill for smelting into new steel products.

  4. The filter paper is transported by conveyor to a specialized, liquid tight roll off where it drains oil for several days and the oil is removed via a vacuum pump. It is then transported to a cement plant. It is used as an alternative fuel.

  5. Oil that is collected during the recycling process is currently sent to the Houston Fuel Oil Terminal, where it is distributed as # 6 Fuel Oil.

By the above process, 100% of the spent filters is utilizes, which allows United Recyclers to certify to its customers that the total filter has been recycled.
